The Why

One of the most significant things I have undertaken in the past few years is self-improvement and the examination of my own life. I was operating my own business, managing staff and working very long hours while raising four children and all that came with it including the guilt we carry trying to be a good parent and partner. As many can relate, all parents wear multiple hats, and it takes its toll on you both physically and emotionally. Your focus is on your family and their needs, so you tend to forget who you are. I was just going through the motions of each day and not really paying attention to the big picture. At that time of my life, my focus had to be for my family which was as it should be and acceptance of my choices was key.

As is the progression of life, I moved on to the next chapter. Once my children became more independent, I was able to deliberately make changes so I took some time to do some work on myself. The opportunity to start discovering who I was and what were my interests? At the time, I couldn’t afford the time to take off from the business, so I fitted it in on weekends and nights.  I have done countless hours of research of my own, listened to endless videos from motivational and spiritual speakers such as Tony Robins, Jim Rhon, Robert Kiyosaki and Abraham Hicks to name a few and undertaken courses in NLP, Reiki, hypnosis, and other holistic health disciplines. These strategies have allowed me to lift my awareness of just who I am, how I think, what sort of person I wish to be, what do I want and with whom I want to spend my time. I became more aware of people’s energy, how it affected my energy and how I chose to respond to it. I wish I had known all of this before I started out in life. What I ultimately discovered with a lot of inner work was a nice way to exist, and I found out that you need to make a quality of life a priority.  I learned to value the smaller moments and became more in tune with the little things that made me happy rather than focusing on the ” One day!” Moments.

I became more respectful of my body, appreciated my mind and discovered the essence of my soul.

Cheers
