When my family moved to Queensland, it was decided to upgrade my car. I had seen the new Mazda 6 range and had put it out "there" that this would be my next car. I researched it all and knew the exact model and colour complete with a rear spoiler. Being snowed under with setting up the new business, I was unable to get away from work so my husband sorted it and picked it up for me. When he arrived home with my "new baby" it was the wrong colour and style and being honest, I was really disappointed with it. I was not aware of the importance of energy and emotion back then so I did not give any thought to the effect my attitude would have on my relationship with this car. If anything could go wrong with this car, it did. I could park it in the most isolated area of a car park and almost without fail it would have a dent or scratch on it when I came back. It didn’t stand a chance the poor thing. Anyway, I continued to see the model and colour of the car I had wanted almost like a tease from the universe and I chastised myself that I should have been grateful for the car I had. Nope, still disappointed.
The following year I was going through a particularly stressful time with my business. It was the end of the financial year and everything that comes with it on top of re-negotiating contracts with suppliers and sorting ongoing issues with a particular staff member. I felt like things were completely out of kilter in my world. This one particular morning I had worked till after 1 am and was out of bed again at 5 am. By 6am I was back in my car which was parked in the garage. As I started the car I remembered I needed an essential folder from the office to finalise stocktake. As I reached the office door, I had a sinking realisation that I had put the car in neutral and NOT put on the handbrake. To say I was distracted would be an understatement.
Almost in slow motion, I turned to run back to the car just in time to see it veer off the driveway and make its way towards the swimming pool. Now our pool was surrounded by fencing with large solid posts so I was praying it would hit one of the posts and this would be enough to stop it. Not a chance! It hit the post in the middle of the boot area forcing the post to fall which was sufficient enough to launch it over the paved area and into the pool. To avoid offending anyone, I will not repeat the earth-shattering words that broke the peace throughout the valley nor the expression on my husband's face. My eldest son in his humorous manner staggered out of bed, rubbed his eyes at what he was seeing and made his way down to the pool area. With a large smirk, he rested his elbow on my shoulder and quite cheerfully said: "I guess this lets me off the hook for life. Too soon Mitch, too soon.....
The car was written off and the insurance company rang to say they had approval for the replacement but could not guarantee the same model. That morning as I drove to work, the new model Mazda 6 in my perfect colour was parked in the carpark at work. Was this a sign from the universe or just another tease?
My husband went down to the dealership and noticed on the showroom floor that the new Mazda 6 was proudly on display with everything I had wanted. He negotiated with the dealer and arrived home with my "new baby". It was then that I realised the universe, through a series of less than desirable circumstances, delivered my wish and had just manifested my dream car.
So, although I went the long route to get my wish it was a friendly reminder that the universe does deliver. AND, I have a constant friendly reminder displayed on the local towtruck companies largest vehicle of my first Mazda taking its fateful morning dip.
Ah Yes, the universe certainly has a unique sense of humour.
cheers
